Granite is extracted from mountains in large blocks, which are the sliced into pieces (slabs), whereas quartz is taken from quarries in the form of crushed granules that are mixed with resin. Granite is a natural stone and every slab provides a unique pattern. This is a porous stone to which a sealant must be applied in order to seal and prevent staining. As for Quartz, it is more uniform in terms of color and requires no sealant. Pigments that are added when creating a slab of quartz give it the desired color. UV rays can change the color of the quartz over time. Prices are varied for both granite and quartz.
